McFlurry — Pleasure at Full Speed

McDonald’s · Commercial film · CGI + Live Action

A McFlurry isn’t something you explain. It’s something you feel. That idea shaped the film: the camera doesn’t observe the product, it dives into it.

The story unfolds in a single breath. The lens travels through the cup, curves around the swirl of soft serve and follows the sauce in free fall to the exact moment of impact, when the liquid opens into a crown and hands the motion back to the camera. Every transition was designed as physical continuity, with no cutaways to escape into. The viewer’s eye never leaves the experience.

Getting there meant merging two languages into a single image. The base is live action, with the product captured on a controlled set to preserve texture, sheen and the flavour cues only a camera can deliver. On top of it, we built in 3D everything the physics of a set would never allow: the fluid simulation of the sauce, splashes suspended in mid-air, chocolate running thick down the inner wall of the cup. Tracking, on-set HDRI lighting and lens matching dissolve the line between what was filmed and what was generated.

The result is a commercial that puts appetite above all else. Every frame was calibrated so the technology serves the craving, not the other way around.
